What's Your Take On Google+?

question mark Best Agent BusinessI've asked for an invitation to use Google+, but am not one of the "elite" to be chosen yet.  The articles I've read about all the "bigger and better" ways we can communicate with our friends, clients, prospective clients, etc. are intriguing.  In fact, in July, I summarized the features of Google+ in "What's All The Fuss About Google+" .

It's interesting that Google does not describe Google+ as a product, but as a "project".  The focus here is to stress that Google+ is a result of making Google itself more social rather than creating a new stand-alone social network.  In an article on searchengineland.com, Vic Gundotra, senior vice president for Google's social products, describes Google+ this way, "It's 'Plus' because it takes products from Google and makes them better . . . it's an ongoing set of products."

Take a minute and watch this video - even if it doesn't clear up a few things about Google+, it will probably make you smile.  One of the arguments that I've read in several articles is that there are so many millions of users already firmly entrenched in Facebook that they will not switch to Google+.

It does seem to me that Google+ will have advantages for real estate agents because of the "circles" feature.  You could have one circle of clients, another of prospective clients, and still another of fellow agents, etc.  What do you think?  If you are already on Google+, what is your first impression?  If you are not on Google+, are you going to give it a try?

This is a great forum for us to share specific experience in the use of Google+ within the real estate profession.  At Best Agent Business we have teams of experts using Social Media that’s related to real estate and we'll share information we gather.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions - it should be a fun and informative discussion!

Steve, I have BEEN invited-created my profile and haven't gotten any further than that!  Not that impressive, from what I've seen- Interesting, calling it a "project"  sounds like a work in progress to me!

Little early to tell but working it in to the media mix and will get back to you. A tad early on and thinking this is Facebook is your first mistake on the application I have sensed from some out the sidelines looking in. Links to videos and your world getting "liked" plus one shows you are active, others think you are credible and it is all about authority, who is worthwhile and time, money saving for the very busy comsumer.

I did what Faith did. I went back to see how many people added me since I keep getting emails, and I'm at about 100 people without doing a thing...

I've signed up, but haven't done anything with it yet. Not sure why I would want my clients/customers in my circles.

Google + is asking us to stretch ourselves even more. Either you go with the flow or ignor it.

Just like most things, some will like it, use it and possibly gain from it, while others will not. To each his own! Thanks for all the comments.

I like Google+ myself.  It's far faster than facebook both on the web and on my mobile phone and far more useful.  The only downside is their lower adoption rate.  Because everyone is on FB and only a few on G+, it's now two locations to check.  If just everyone would dump FB and move over I'd be happy.

I have invites to spare if anybody wants an invite shoot me a msg I'd be happy to burn up my invites on fellow AR members.
